Searching for you I found the abyss.
Its mouth opened wide at my feet.
Within lay the promise of peace.
Without – my heart’s stilted beat
Relentlessly cried.
My gaze drew me near.
Its calling resounded. Steep –
The courage of fear.
A reckless desire to leap
Sternly defied.
My fingers rip open the clay,
Fashion bricks into walls.
The craving of you kept at bay
By a silence that stalls.
Dreams subside.
I watch the fragments of time,
The distance that grows unimpeded
Between us: a rampant of lime
With doubts and forgetfulness seeded.
Wishfully tied.
